Recruiter Appreciation is Contagious.

In answering the NCGOE ORA2 invitation in 2008, local state worker Levi Regalado contracted the troop support bug.
Like many Americans, Levi was a 'passive' patriot. As a naturalized citizen, immigrated from Philipines, Regalado is furiously patriotic and supported his troops from a respectful distance.

In this photo of NCGOE ORA2, Levi is on the left, green shirt.
His exposure to the GOE ORA events awoke a boldness that has allowed him to launch his own appreciative efforts. In November, 2009 Levi planned, organized and held his own Recruiter Appreciation Day.
I was thrilled to be a part of his ORA and record it for this video.

This aint Berkeley, this aint Olympia, Washington.
It's not Toledo, D.C., or even Chapel Hill.
This is not another tale of worm-hearted protesters attacking a military recruiter.
This is a group of people that are genuinely proud of their country - grateful to be able to call themselves AMERICANS. - and anxious to honor the men and women who have volunteered to protect America.
This is the second annual Operation Recruiter Appreciation day organized by the Gathering of Eagles.

The national GOE has visited recruiter's offices across the nation this weekend to let them and all of our soldiers know that their sacrifice and service is appreciated. This is a day we chose to express our Gratitude, Admiration and Respect.
This particular report is of a simple lunch served to the soldiers that man the Recruiting Station on Calvary Drive, Raleigh, North Carolina.
Since a picture is worth a thousand words, here's 26,000 words worth.

A Moonbat's Diary

Summary
White Area represents the Army Recruiter Office,
Blue represents the Police
Red represents the Gathering of Eagles
Yellow marks the path of incoming Moonbats
Appropriate color codes, eh?
After crossing Estes Dr, the Moonbats broke right and attempted to approach the Army office from the east.
The Police stopped their advance well before they reached the Army office.
The Gathering of Eagles moved around and came in behind the Moonbats. After pausing for a minute, the Eagles moved forward and formed a line.
After only a few minutes of verbal abuse the Moonbats retreated back to the south. They were escorted all the way back to the intersection and given an appropriate send-off.
Note, at no time did the Moonbats get even a glimpse of the Army Office. They came to do "creative action", were opposed, and retreated.
The End
Who Wants Pictures?

Next two photos were taken as Moonbats approached the intersection.

These next four photos were taken as the Eagles escorted the Moonbats back out to Franklin St.

The Eagles closed the day, as usual, with a Pledge of Allegiance.

May 18, 2007
Raleigh, N.C.
Report by Ross 'Bubba' McDowell
Participants:
Bob Chamerlain
Ross and Donna McDowell
Rodney Carroll
Ken Meyer of Operation A Bit Of Home
Doris
Participants met at the recruiting offices at 11:00.
After greetings and introductions with the recruiters, we setup our canopy and table, raised the flag and laid out the groceries.
All the food came from the Village Deli in Wake Forest, where a substantial discount was given as a donation. There was deli sandwiches, pasta salads and gourmet cookies. We also had two portable coolers with iced beverages.
The recruiting office in north Raleigh is occupied by Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines. The Army National Guard is in a neighboring building.
Total number of recruiters is about 32.

Chatting, probably about politics: Ken, Bubba, Bob, Doris and Joe.
Although there was a mysterious absence of media coverage, approximately 30 people still came out to see the soldiers, shake their hand and thank them. Some stayed for quite a while.
One recruiter stated that they were not accustomed to people coming in just to say thanks.
Eagle Rodney Carroll replied "Get used to it".
The soldier said "That's an adjustment I think I can make."

Several members of local Rolling Thunder came out.
But that goes without saying, doesnt it? Troop support is a reflex action for these guys.
OORa ... Hay! Cookies!

Yuriy Kaknovsky came and brought his wife and two children. They brought $25 gift certificates to their restaurant in North Hills.
Mrs. Kaknovsky, with tears in her eyes, expressed heartfelt gratitude ... to the Eagles!
The Kaknovsky family are Ukrainian immigrants. They sacrificed and risked much to come to America and become Americans. The fact that they felt so much gratitude for people that finally demonstrate some patriotism speaks volumes.
Yuriy and his wife pulled their kids from school to come to our humble little O.R.A. Some of the greatest Americans did not inherit their citizenship.
My personal thanks to friends who came to support their troops.
